A Tourist’s Night of Horror Takes a Sharp Turn

Gina Maison was having the time of her life on her backpack trip through the Philippines. She loved the country and its people, and she was especially enjoying her time in Palawan. But just two days before she was supposed to fly back to the United States, someone started banging on her hotel room door in the middle of the night.

It was her second night in Palawan and Gina Maison was just about to drift off to sleep when she heard a knock on her door. She sat up, heart pounding, and looked at the clock. It was 3am. Who could be knocking on her door at this hour?

Gina got out of bed and quietly made her way to the door, trying to peer through the peephole. She couldn’t see who it was, but from the window she could see some shadows moving around outside.

She didn’t know what to do – should she open the door and try to run, or take a risk and escape through the balcony? She knew she had to find a way to get to her local tour guide, Lisa, the only person she could trust. But with whoever was outside her door blocking her way, escape seemed like her only option.

Just as she was about to make a decision, she heard footsteps outside her room. They sounded like they were walking away from her door. Gina let out a sigh of relief and quickly went back to bed, telling herself it was just a false alarm. But less than an hour later, she heard the same knock on her door, followed by the same footsteps walking away. This time, Gina didn’t hesitate. She quickly grabbed her things and dashed out the door, intending to find Lisa. Surely she would know what to do in this situation. Gina ran down the hallway towards Lisa’s room but before she could reach it, she felt something grab her from behind, pulling her into the shadows…

She struggled to free herself but it was no use. Whoever had a hold of her was strong and determined to keep her there. She tried to scream for help but nothing came out. It was as if her voice had been stolen away. She could only helplessly struggle as she was pulled further and further into the darkness.

Finally, she was pushed roughly into a chair and a light was shone in her face, blinding her. She squinted, trying to make out who had captured her but all she could see were two red eyes staring back at her.

A deep voice spoke then, asking her why she had been snooping around.

“Why am I here?” Gina asked fearfully. “What do you want from me?” The figure didn’t answer, merely continued to approach until they were standing right in front of her – Now Gina got to see her catcher, a tall and able-bodied guy wearing an anonymous mask. Gina felt cold sweat dripping down her forehead.

The catcher reached to his mask, and took it off — Gina was really in big shock!

The guy behind the mask is a super handsome young man, he said: “I’m sorry to have scared you, please accept my apology. My name is Paul, I’m the local police officer.”

Gina stared at him and didn’t even notice she’s blushing.

Paul continued, “we received an intel to keep an eye on single female tourist, maybe my approach is too aggressive.”

“Show me your badge, ” Gina said.

“Here it is”, Paul took out his shiny police officer badge from the left pocket of his jeans. “Can I buy you a drink tomorrow night as an apology?” he said.

Gina didn’t expect such turn of event, but she didn’t hesitate to reply “No problem, tomorrow at the beach bar, I will be there at 7 pm.”

Paul walked Gina back to her room, and she was too excited to sleep.

The next morning, Lisa couldn’t wait to tell Gina everything happened the previous night. “I think I might need to delay my flight,” Gina said. They both laughed.
