PCO brings “Community Caravan” to Tacloban

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) brought its “Community Caravan” to Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) in Tacloban City as part of the agency’s battle against the proliferation of fake news and disinformation.

Industrial Arts student Benjamin Mendoba Jr. said he appreciated the efforts of the PCO in reaching out to them in Tacloban City through various booths from the agency’s attached agencies.

“Maganda ang event na ito kasi for us nakakadagdag ng social interaction sa ibang students, sa ibang organizations at mas nabo-boost ang aming interaction,” Mendoba said.

“Nakakuha kami ng mga pwede naming mabasa about sa government and then pwede na rin naming magamit sa aming course … masaya parang new din na mayroong ganitong event,” he added.

Technical Vocational Teacher Education student Gayle Abarquez echoed Mendoba’s sentiments, saying that she felt the commitment of the PCO in providing accurate information about the country and the executive department.

Abarquez added that EVSU students like her are already exposed to different media platforms if they will pursue journalism in the future.

“Masayang tingnan and nakaka-enjoy din po kasi marami kaming pwedeng puntahan dito. Nakikita ko mayroon ditong parang radio station, television, parang halos lahat andito,” Abarquez said.

“Malaking tulong siya sa mga estudyanteng gustong maging – magbalita and hindi lang sa radio pwede makita ang isang student saka ‘yung skills, pwede rin niyang magamit in the future kung gusto n’ya pong maging broadcaster,” she added.

Students from EVSU get to enjoy various booths of the attached agencies of the PCO where some reading materials, leaflets and other broadcasting equipment were showcased during the first day of the two-day caravan in the campus.

Among the PCO attached agencies that joined the Community Caravan were the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Radyo Pilipinas, PTV, RTVM and the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Talented students have also showcased their singing prowess at the “Konsyerto sa Palasyo” booth.

PCO’s Community Caravan at EVSU will run until February 20. The next stop would be at the Leyte Normal University (LNU). PND
